BYD Atto 3: The Game-Changing EV Australia Can’t Stop Talking About

October 3, 2024 – Sydney, Australia:- The BYD Atto 3 is currently one of the most talked-about electric vehicles in Australia. The Chinese carmaker BYD, a newcomer to the Australian market, is turning heads with its competitive pricing, unique interior design, and innovative blade battery technology.

The Atto 3 is a front-wheel-drive electric vehicle powered by a single motor that delivers 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque. Regardless of the version you choose, the standard model boasts a WLTP driving range of 345 km, while the extended battery version offers 420 km. The base model is equipped with a 50 kWh battery and starts at $44,381.

BYD claims the design of the Atto 3 is inspired by fitness culture. The center section of the dashboard is shaped to resemble a muscle, and the cylindrical air vents and gear shifter are reminiscent of dumbbells. While the design may initially seem unconventional, closer inspection reveals that BYD has not sacrificed practicality or comfort. Both front seats are electrically adjustable, upholstered in soft synthetic leather, and provide ample comfort. The driving position is well thought out, and interior storage is abundant, with a large center bin and glovebox adding convenience.

Despite its playful design, the Atto 3 is also well-equipped. However, customization options are limited to battery size and four exterior color choices: white, gray, blue, and red. All colors except white come with a $700 surcharge, and red is exclusive to models with the extended battery.

On the road, the Atto 3 delivers a smooth driving experience. Built on BYD’s dedicated electric platform, the chassis is tuned for comfort, handling bumps well. The steering is light and precise, though the car’s long wheelbase and weight mean it’s not particularly agile. Despite this, the Atto 3 remains a solid, polished offering for those looking for an affordable electric vehicle in Australia.
