October 3, 2024 – New Delhi, India:- BYD’s India journey, which began with the popular E6 electric MPV, has taken a significant leap forward with the unveiling of the new eMAX 7. This is more than just a facelift; it’s an evolution. The eMAX 7, which builds on the foundation of the E6, brings a completely new design and enhanced features that reflect a bold, confident personality. Available in four colors, including a striking blue, the front design now features a blade-like element reminiscent of the BYD ATTO 3, connecting modern headlights with cube-like projectors that add a sophisticated touch.
The side profile remains largely unchanged, although it now sports dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and additional chrome along the windows and base. Moving to the rear, the tail lights have been redesigned with an Audi-like connected light bar, contributing to a well-rounded, modern aesthetic.
Inside, the eMAX 7 has undergone a complete transformation. Unlike the more utilitarian E6, the new model boasts a refined dual-tone interior featuring brown upholstery and a black dashboard. The 12.8-inch touchscreen can be rotated between portrait and landscape modes. The center console has been modernized with wireless charging and touch controls for climate settings, and the gear lever is now a proper unit, adding a luxury feel. The new model is also equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, 360-degree cameras, and power-adjustable, ventilated front seats.
In the second row, buyers have the option of six-seat configurations with captain chairs, adding to the luxury feel. Passengers enjoy ample headroom, dedicated air control, USB ports, and a panoramic glass roof that enhances the cabin’s spaciousness. Although the floor height is slightly elevated, making under-thigh support less ideal, the absence of a transmission hump, thanks to the electric powertrain, improves overall comfort.
The third row, a new feature absent in the E6, offers decent headroom for average-sized passengers, though taller individuals may find it less comfortable for longer journeys. The panoramic roof extends to the rear, maintaining an open, airy feel.
Storage options are somewhat limited with all three rows in use, offering around 180 liters of luggage space. However, folding the rear seats boosts capacity to over 500 liters. The eMAX 7 also features a powered tailgate for added convenience.
In terms of performance, the eMAX 7 offers two battery options: a 55.4 kWh unit and a larger 71.8 kWh option. Both provide ranges exceeding 400 and 500 kilometers, respectively, on the NEDC test cycle, though real-world figures will likely vary. Power output has more than doubled compared to the E6, with the top variant producing 211 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.
The eMAX 7 is priced at ₹26.9 lakh for the base 55 kWh model, with the fully loaded 71.8 kWh variant retailing for ₹29.9 lakh. Both come with an 8-year warranty for the battery and motor. Given its features and performance, the eMAX 7 poses a strong challenge to competitors like the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Stay tuned for more updates and insights into BYD’s expanding presence in India’s electric vehicle market.
