Geely has officially introduced the Galaxy E5, an all-electric compact vehicle designed to make electric mobility more accessible to consumers worldwide. With an attractive starting price of just $14,680, the Galaxy E5 is set to compete in global markets, including plans for both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations.
The Galaxy E5 is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 160 kW of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a respectable 6.9 seconds. The vehicle offers two battery pack options: a 49.52 kWh pack with a range of 440 km and a larger 60.22 kWh pack providing a range of 530 km.
A key feature of the Galaxy E5 is Geely’s innovative EIS Short Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate battery that boasts an energy density of 192 Wh/kg and a lifespan of up to 3,500 charging cycles. Geely claims this translates to a driving distance of up to 1 million kilometers with minimal degradation in range.
One of the standout features of the Galaxy E5 is its competitive pricing, undercutting many rivals in the electric vehicle market. While detailed information about the interior and specific features is currently limited, Geely is known for equipping its vehicles with modern technology and comfortable interiors. As a mainstream electric vehicle, the Galaxy E5 is expected to offer a practical and value-focused package.
The Galaxy E5 will face stiff competition from established players in the electric vehicle market, including BYD’s Yuan Plus.
