August 19, 2024 – The electric vehicle landscape in India is about to witness a significant addition with the anticipated arrival of MG’s latest crossover. If the design of this vehicle seems familiar, that’s because it’s a rebranded version of the Baojun Air EV, known in China as the Baojun Cloud E. Both MG and Baojun are subsidiaries of the Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor, and this new model is set to make its mark in the Indian market under a different name.
Design and Specifications The MG electric crossover is expected to offer a range of approximately 460 km on a single charge, positioning it as a strong contender in the EV segment. With a length of just over 4.2 meters and a substantial wheelbase of 2,700 mm, the vehicle promises ample space and comfort, despite its compact appearance.
The design is likely to spark mixed reactions. While some may find its front end polarizing, the rear is arguably more appealing, offering a cuter, more compact aesthetic. However, it’s the interior that truly stands out, featuring a unique grab handle for door operation, which adds a quirky and functional touch.

Interior Features Inside, the MG crossover boasts a minimalistic yet stylish design. The vehicle is equipped with two screens—a large, fast-responding infotainment screen and a smaller instrument cluster. The steering wheel is simple and uncluttered, in line with the minimalist theme.
Other interior highlights include hidden air vents, a control panel with basic functions, and a textured upholstery that resembles plush home sofas, offering both comfort and a sense of luxury. The spacious cabin, with its large, sloping A-pillar, provides a sense of openness, similar to the Honda Jazz.
The car also features a high-end sound system, several storage compartments, USB charging ports, and a massive, well-insulated storage area. The rear seats are split 40/60, offering plenty of legroom and a nearly flat floor, making it convenient for a third passenger.
Practicality and Comfort The MG crossover is designed with practicality in mind. The rear seats are reclinable, providing additional comfort for long journeys. The car also comes with a center armrest, rear AC vents (though without individual controls), ambient lighting around the speakers, and sturdy door handles.

One of the key practical features is the remote-operated power tailgate, which opens to reveal a spacious and flat boot area. This makes the vehicle ideal for long-distance trips or airport runs.
Anticipated Launch and Pricing While the exact launch date and pricing remain under wraps, the MG electric crossover is expected to come with CCS2 charging compatibility, in line with government mandates. Pricing will be a crucial factor in determining the vehicle’s success in the Indian market.
As we await more details, we invite you to share your thoughts on what the pricing should be and whether this is a vehicle you’d be excited to see on Indian roads soon.
