October 3, 2024 – Paris, France:- Renault has teased new images of its upcoming electric Renault 4 E-Tech ahead of its official debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 14, 2024. In a trend familiar to the automotive world, legacy carmakers are reviving classic names for their electric vehicle (EV) lineups. Ford has already done so with the return of the Capri as an electric crossover and the iconic Mustang badge now representing an electric SUV. Renault is following suit with the Renault 5 and now, the much-anticipated Renault 4 E-Tech.
The Renault 4, originally a staple of Renault’s lineup from the 1960s to the 1990s, is being brought back in a modern EV form. While the target market for the new R4 might not remember the original, Renault is banking on the retro appeal. The new teaser images indicate that the production version of the R4 stays true to the design language introduced with the Renault 4Ever concept unveiled a few years ago.
Key design elements from the original Renault 4 are retained, including rear quarter lights, bumper overriders, a folding fabric roof, and distinct rear lights. However, modern features, such as a glass-covered nose and a twin-screen interior similar to the new Renault 5, offer a contemporary twist. The R4 shares its platform and wheelbase with the R5 but is slightly longer, measuring 4.14 meters in length, giving it a more spacious feel. The full reveal of the Renault 4 E-Tech is eagerly awaited at the upcoming motor show, where more details will be unveiled.
