Cumulatively, NEV wholesale sales this year have totaled 6.873 million units, a 32% increase over the same period in 2023. The year-to-date penetration rate stands at 44.92%.

Meanwhile, China’s broader passenger vehicle market, including internal combustion engine vehicles, also saw positive momentum, though at a more modest rate. The dynamic growth in China’s NEV market is attributed to several factors, including the introduction of more cost-effective models by manufacturers and continued government support through subsidies and incentives. The CPCA’s report suggests that the influx of new models and these supportive measures are expected to further boost demand for car purchases in the coming months. September 2024, with its 21 working days—one more than last year—is projected to provide an extended window for increased sales activity. Average daily retail sales of passenger cars during the first week of September were recorded at 48,465 units, with wholesale sales averaging 46,248 units daily.
